I was born and raised in PG County, Maryland. I always had a sense of adventure and a love for writing that started at the age of 4 years old. While growing up in my environment, I felt as though my dreams were impossible to accomplish, so I lowered my expectations for my future, but the desire to become a traveling writer with a family traveling with me never left my heart.
My high school days were the start of me understanding this strong urge to travel and write. During my sophomore year, I was enrolled in a program called Upward Bound. This program allowed me to get around teachers who would become my first set of mentors and I was able to get around other teens my age from multiple backgrounds who had high expectations and visions for their lives. This new atmosphere within my current environment allowed me to dream again and those dreams of traveling and writing came back with a vengeance.
I went on to enroll in the same college, I attended Upward Bound after I graduated high school. I received my associates in 2015 and then enrolled at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
From 2015 to 2019, I was a full-time student and a part-time pre-school teacher. By living in a new county in Maryland, I was able to work, live, and interact with individuals of multiple backgrounds that I never had access to while living in Pg County, Maryland. This new experience enhanced my already big dreams even more and after graduating with a Bachelors degree of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Developmental Psychology and a Bachelors degree of Arts in English on a Communication and Technology Track, I was ready to explore the world.
At the age of 25, I was ready to see the world through traveling and my teaching background gave me access to that opportunity. In 2020, I was an English teacher assistant for a private school in Barcelona, Spain from January to March then when the Coronavirus (Covid-19) shutdown took place the program ended and I returned back to PG County, Maryland. It was during this time the Dear Ms. Aphrodite organization became my new mission and life purpose.

In the Fall of 2020, I realized my mission was not remaining in a classroom setting, but to create opportunities and share resources for individuals in the Black, Brown, and Colored communities in PG County, Maryland like Upward Bound did for me and so many others. I then had a vision that the company would involve my unexplained passion of writing and traveling. The thought I then had was, “Okay, that sounds great, but how?”
The answer to my question would then appear in the form of a community and an opportunity that I never knew existed. It was January 3rd, 2021 when I received a random Instagram digital message (DM) from a lady name Quincy, who had taken a look on my page and took an interest in my mission. From there, she shared with me the strong connections to people who were already doing similar things in their communities after they found a successful way to making it happen and were now in the position to show others the way. This information intrigued me and I wanted to know how I could gain that same type of access as she.
Quincy & I developed a close relationship where she became my personal mentor and I gained access to the community that she was telling me about. From that day forward, my life changed dramatically and my mission became clearer with a for sure way to making it happen.
Today, I am a Stay at Home Wife (SAHW) living a life of travel and writing that has helped me open many doors of opportunity and access to resources that I share among individuals in the Black, Brown, Colored, our allied communities located in Pg County, Maryland, within the United States, and internationally through the organization Dear Ms. Aphrodite in ways I wouldn’t have seen possible without the connections and resources I gained through my mentors.
aphro kingdom is a community of individuals among the Black, Brown, and Colored communities along with our allies. As we create unity with one another, we are able to share knowledge, resources, opportunities, and our personal stories.
Can you relate somewhere with my story? If so, I would like to get to know you and hear yours. Just maybe, somewhere within our life journeys, we are mentioned in each others chapter(s).
